I’m Heather, the artist behind Heather Marie Bishoff Designs, and this little corner of my website is where I hope to share more than just finished paintings. It’s a place for the stories, inspiration, experiments, and sometimes messy moments that happen along the way.
My art begins with a love of the natural world.
There’s something about the beauty of the South that continually captures my imagination. The graceful curves of a lily, the vibrant colors of a garden in bloom, the movement of wildlife through lush greenery, and the unexpected combinations of color and texture found in nature.
These are the things that inspire me to pick up a paintbrush.
I love bringing together bold colors, expressive brushstrokes, and familiar elements of Southern landscapes in ways that feel a little unexpected. You’ll find plenty of turquoise, pink, deep greens, and rich botanical textures in my work, often accompanied by a creature or two.
A Little Look Inside My Studio
My studio is a place of constant discovery. There are usually several paintings in progress, brushes waiting to be cleaned, ideas scribbled in sketchbooks, and more creative possibilities than I could ever fit into a single day.
Some days everything seems to fall into place. Other days, I spend hours working through a composition, adjusting colors, or trying to capture just the right expression in the eyes of a wild animal.
But that’s part of what I love about being an artist. Every painting teaches me something new.
I’m continually learning, experimenting, and challenging myself to grow. And while I love sharing finished artwork, I’ve come to realize that the journey of creating it is just as interesting as the final result.
More Than a Painting
One of the most exciting parts of my artistic journey has been discovering how a painting can inspire an entire collection.
A single botanical painting might become the starting point for coordinating fabrics, wallpaper, stationery, or home décor. I love imagining how the colors and textures of my artwork can move beyond the canvas and become part of a beautiful, welcoming home.
It’s this connection between original art, surface design, and everyday living that continues to shape my creative vision.
My dream is to build a life centered around making art, developing collections, and sharing the beauty of the natural world through my work.
And I’m excited to share that journey with you.
